Cookie Information
Version 0.1-draft · prepared 2026-10-11 · current version
What this page covers
Cookies and similar technologies (such as browser storage) are small pieces of information saved on your device. UK law (PECR, as updated by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and ICO guidance) says we need your consent for them unless they are strictly necessary for something you asked us to do. DRAFT: not reviewed by a solicitor.
What we use - strictly necessary only
Today the marketplace uses only storage that is needed to sign you in, keep your account secure, protect against bots and fraud, and take payments. No consent is needed for these, so we do not show a consent banner.
- Sign-in and account security: session and client cookies set by Clerk (for example __session, __client_uat, and a development-only __clerk_db_jwt on the preview).
- Workspace routing: a secure first-party cookie that records which workspace your account belongs to (__Host-tradey-tenant) for staff and contractor accounts.
- Human verification: Cloudflare Turnstile, loaded through Clerk during sign-up and sign-in when extra checks are needed.
- Payments and fraud prevention: Stripe loads its scripts and may store identifiers on your device on the payment page so a card payment can be completed securely.
- Choices you make: temporary form progress kept in your browser while you complete a booking or application.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels or analytics on the marketplace at the time of this draft. [DECISION D14 - not yet decided] If we add analytics, marketing or anything not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this page and show a clear choice.
Your choices
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but sign-in and payment may stop working. Marketing messages are a separate choice you make in your account and are off unless you turn them on.
Open decisions for legal review
- D14. Marketing consent and cookies at launch. No analytics, advertising or marketing technologies are used by the marketplace today (only strictly necessary storage). If any are added, consent and an updated cookie notice are needed first. Confirm marketing channels (email only?) and the sender details.
